Planned 20th anniversary event put on hold
The 20th annual Run for the Trails 5K race/walk has been canceled. We apologize to all of our loyal participants, and to those who may have planned to make this their Labor Day outing. Our main goal has always been the safety and health of our participants. Lacking a clear picture into the future, we chose to err on the side of caution and cancel the event. We plan on returning in 2021 to celebrate the 20th edition of Run for the Trails.
The race/walk will start and finish at Maria Stanhope Park near downtown Seville. This event was started in 2001 and continues as a way to generate funds to promote and build hiking and biking trails. Runners and walkers will both start at 9 a.m. Awards will be given out to the top overall male and female runner; the top male and female Masters runner (40+); and the top 3 male and female age-group runners. There will be no duplicate awards. The age groups are divided as follows:

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The fee schedule for runners or walkers is as follows:
$20.00 (January 1 – June 1)
$25 (June 2 – July 31)
$30 (August 1 – September 5)
$35 on day of race
Entry fees include t-shirt and refreshments. Cotton short-sleeve shirts are guaranteed to those registered by August 21. Specific shirts for women and children are available. Shirts for race day registrants are on first-come, first-served basis and not all sizes may be available. Although we order extra shirts for race day registration, a shirt is not guaranteed if you register the morning of the race.

Online registration is offered through RunSignUp. Click on the link above and follow the easy instructions. Online registration will be open until noon, September 5, 2020. There is an additional service fee for online registration.
RACE HAS BEEN CANCELED
Day of race registration opens at 7:30 a.m. in Maria Stanhope Park which is located beside SR3 about 1/4 mile west of Seville’s downtown area. Day of race registration fee is $35. Shirts for race day registrants are on first-come, first-served basis. Not all sizes may be available. Shirts from previous races will be offered if current shirts are not available. However, shirts are not guaranteed on day of the race registration.

SWITCHING REGISTRATIONS PROCEDURE
We will be happy to switch registration from one person to another, but only until noon September 5, 2020. Please email or call Dennis Gordon at 330-769-3636 to make the change. No registration switches will be allowed on race day – no exceptions.
The race/walk will be held rain or shine. Due to insurance restrictions, no dogs or other pets are allowed to accompany runners or walkers in either the 5K race or 5K walk. Baby strollers are permitted in the 5K walk, and the 5K race. For safety reasons, headphones or earbuds and other personal listening devices are strongly discouraged. Although marshaled, certain sections of the course are not completely closed to traffic. Refreshments will be available after the event. The race director reserves the right to refuse any registration.

RAFFLE
Raffle tickets will be sold for items donated by generous local businesses. The cost is: $1 for one ticket; 5$ for six tickets. The tickets will be drawn after the awards ceremony.
**Driving Directions**
From the north: follow I-71 south to I-76 east to Akron. Head east to the first exit (State Route 3). Exit I-76, turn right at the light at the exit ramp, heading toward downtown Seville. Follow the signs. Turn right at the second traffic light (SR3) and proceed to Maria Stanhope Park. Packet pick up and race day registration is located in Maria Stanhope Park inside tents next to the gazebo.
From the east: follow I-76 west to the Seville exit (State Route 3) Turn left off the exit ramp. Follow the signs. Turn right at the second traffic light (SR3) and proceed to Maria Stanhope Park. Packet pick up and race day registration is located in Maria Stanhope Park inside tents next to the gazebo.
From the west: Follow State Route 3 to Seville. After entering the village, look for Maria Stanhope Park on your left. Follow the signs or follow directions of volunteers to parking areas. Or, follow US 224 until it merges with I-76. Exit I-76 at Seville. Right turn off exit ramp, following SR3. Follow the signs. Turn right at the second traffic light (SR3) and proceed to Maria Stanhope Park. Packet pick up and race day registration is located in Maria Stanhope Park inside tents around the gazebo.
